#FirstChristmas Talk It Over Group Discussion Guide

Surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, there are many who had their eyes opened to a different perspective that we all need to see in living for Christ in today’s world. Jesus desires to reveal Himself to you and your community this Christmas. As He comes this Christmas, how will you reveal His light?

1. The Angels' View (Luke 1:5-20, 26-38; 2:8-15)
We don't know a lot about angels. Yet they were involved in the Advent. What was their view of this most important event as interested bystanders? As messengers? As heavenly cheerleaders? As worship leaders? As interpreters?

2. The Shepherds' View (Luke 2:8-20)
Shepherds were on the bottom rung of the social ladder in the time of Jesus' birth. Why did God involve them in the events surrounding the Advent? What was their view of this most important event?

3. The Wise Men's View (Matthew 2:1-12)
The wise men (also called magi) who came to see Jesus after his birth lived 100s of miles away to the East, and they were not at all Jewish. What was their view of this most important event?

4. Joseph's View (Matthew 1:18-25; 2:13-23; Luke 2:1-7, 21-40)
Joseph was engaged to Mary and everything was going along fine until he learned from her that she was going to have a child. What did Joseph think when he learned of Mary's pregnancy? What did he think of the messages he received from God? What was his view of this most important event?

5. Yours and My View (Matthew 16:13-15; Colossians 1:15-20)
We all enjoy Christmas, and celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus. But what was His birth all about? What was God doing? What should be our view of the Advent? As He comes this Christmas, how will you reveal His light?
